Frequently Asked Questions

What is RPE and why should I use it?
+

RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) is a 1–10 scale of how hard a set felt. In strength training we use RPE 6–10:

  • RPE 10 — true max, nothing left
  • RPE 9 — could have done 1 more rep
  • RPE 8 — 2 reps left
  • RPE 7 — 3 reps left

RPE lets you auto-regulate: push harder on good days, ease off when fatigued — leading to better long-term gains than fixed percentages.

How is e1RM calculated?
+

We use the Reactive Training Systems (RTS) RPE/1RM table, which maps every reps+RPE combination to a % of your max. e1RM = Weight ÷ % for that combo. It's the most accurate single-session estimation method available.

My data disappeared after reinstalling — can I recover it?
+

All data is local. If iCloud Backup (iOS) or Google Auto Backup (Android) was enabled, data may restore when you reinstall. If no backup existed, it cannot be recovered. Enable device backups to prevent loss.

How do I restore my Pro subscription?
+

Open app → Settings → Restore Purchase. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID. If it still fails, check your subscription is active in App Store → Account → Subscriptions.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
+

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open App Store → tap your profile photo → Subscriptions → find RPE Lift → Cancel Subscription. Access remains until end of billing period.

How do I transfer data to a new phone?
+

iOS: iCloud or iTunes backup → restore to new device. Android: Google One backup → restore during setup. Manual export is planned for a future version.

How do I delete all my data?
+

Open app → Settings → scroll to bottom → Delete all my data. This immediately and permanently removes everything. See the Data Deletion page for details.

Why are there ads on Android but not iOS?
+

RPE Lift is free on Android and funded by Google AdMob ads. On iOS it's monetised through an optional Pro subscription instead. Pro subscribers on iOS see no ads.

How do I change the app language?
+

Open Settings → Language → select EN, FR, or ES. Changes apply immediately. The "Auto" setting follows your device's system language.

The app crashes or behaves unexpectedly
+

Try: force-close → reopen, update to the latest version, then restart your device. If the issue persists, email julia.ouazou@gmail.com with your device model and OS version.
